A few early JSD-80 units were
shipped with incorrect flash chips on the JSDO-80 Output (center)
Module. Units with the incorrect chips will lock up when a firmware
update is attempted.
Before attempting to update the firmware on the JSD-80, look
at the JSDO-80 Output Card and verify that is has the correct
flash chips.

Inspection Procedure
1. Power off the JSD-80
2. Remove the JSD-80 front plate and extract the JSDO-80 Output
(center) Module

Using the tab, pullout the
JSDO-80 Output Module

JSDO-80 Output (center)
Module. Location of U34 & U38

4. If the JSDO-80 Output Module
has the incorrect chips U34 & U38, the entire module must
be replaced. Do not attempt to update the firmware of this unit.
Please contact USL, Inc. Customer Service and request a replacement
JSDO-80 Output Module.
5. If the JSDO-80 Output Module has the correct chips, re-insert
the JSDO-80 Output Module into the JSD-80 unit. Re-attach the
front plate and power up the JSD-80. The unit may now be updated
and used.
