Barney and Gizmo the rescued dogs

Several years ago, Felicia got a call that there were some Brussels Griffons in need of assistance in So. California. She and Betty loaded up the car and took off to rescue these guys. Well, upon arrival they found these two terrified guys. One problem was that although they are purebreds, they have been poorly bred. When they were brought home, they were so scared that you had to corner them to catch them.

Our sales manager, Clint Koch, fell in love and applied to adopt Gizmo, which can be harder than adopting a child. He and his family passed the test and took home their first dog ever. Clint and his family spoil him to death and the Ultra folks are always glad when Giz comes in to visit. He is the happiest dog and just makes you smile when he greets you. Clint put him on a diet and he is a very dashing figure of a dog these days.

Barney was in terrible shape when he came to Casa Cashin, but with lots of time and work he started to trust. It was amazing to watch how everyone at work was so kind to him. After months of work, Felicia decided it was time to find the perfect forever home for Barn. After turning a number of people down she found the perfect applicant. Well, there was an outcry of protest from the workers here at Ultra, which finally convinced the Cashin’s that Barney had to stay. He has turned into a wonderful pet, but sometimes a wrong or sudden move will scare him. The old fear moves over his face and he cowers for a moment or two. Those times make us remember what a hard life he had before he came to us and became an Ultra Pup.

Tucker was given to a breeder friend of Felicia’s by his owner who no longer wanted him. He had lived in that home for two years and was very well trained. Felicia brought him down to SLO hoping we would be able to adopt him out. Again, Felicia found one of her friends, Janet Stanley, in Escondido California to adopt.

One problem with Tucker, he is an escape artist. He climbs, digs and can squeeze through the smallest place. No sooner did he get let out in his new yard when he scooted under the fence and ended up in the neighbor’s yard, stuck in some decorative planter. Felicia and Janet put netting on the balcony to keep him from committing suicide by jumping. That worked, but within minutes the other neighbors are yelling for us. Where is Tuck now? On the slopping roof!! What a dog!! He is so cute and sweet and outside of his escaping habits he is very lovable and happy in his new home.
